Ilana has an extensive experience in the oil segment, both in down and upstream areas. She also worked as a hired consultant for Petrobras Distribuidora at the Administration and Tax Planning department and as a gazetted consultant at the Tax and Customs department – at which time she was responsible for the Customs Legal Affairs nucleus. Her practice is in Tax and Customs Law and in Oil & Gas.

Due to her performance in this segment, she submitted her dissertation on Fuels CIDE (Tax on Economic Activity – fuel importation – to ensure a minimum amount of resources for investment on transport infrastructure) to UCAM (Candido Mendes University) in 2003, and then was invited to be a professor at the post graduation course of the same institution, holding the Fuels Taxation chair, as well as at the post graduation course at FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas), holding the Maritime Law chair. She also integrated the Faculty of the School of Magistrates (EMERJ), as a gazetted teacher.
